The Socialist Party meets for its Congress 15-17 March, discussing and debating the explosive events unfolding internationally and in Britain, and agreeing on our tasks to take the struggle for socialism forward.

The news over the last few days and weeks highlights yet again why we can’t trust world capitalist leaders with our lives and livelihoods. Their only interests lie in boosting their profits and their nation’s power on the global stage.

In Britain, Starmer too is trying to represent the interests of Britain’s capitalist class, regardless of what that means for working-class people.

An avalanche of price hikes is already upon us and, come April, we’re going to witness further increases: a 6.4% rise in energy bills, alongside other rising costs such as council tax, water, broadband, phone, TV licence, and car tax.

And yet rather than providing urgent funds for public services and to give a decent pay rise to NHS and workers, Starmer has just increased military spending – marking the largest rise since the Cold War.

Working-class and young people urgently need our own mass party – one which gives a voice to workers in struggle and which is fighting to fully fund services by taking the wealth off the super-rich bosses.

Capitalism offers no way forward. It is a system of crisis, and of exploitation, war and oppression. The Socialist Party is taking part in the struggles unfolding, with the socialist ideas needed to win those struggles and fight for more.

Our party is based on the working class. We rely on financial support from our members and supporters. What can you donate to help build the Socialist Party and strengthen us in the fight for socialist change?
