Socialist Students statement
Socialist Students condemns the barbaric police raids and arrests of Youth Demand activists, including those attending an open meeting at Quaker meeting house in London on 28 March. We call for all charges to be dropped, for their immediate release, and an end to all repression faced by political activists.
The Labour government is carrying out vicious attacks on young and working-class people, and is well aware of the huge anger it is causing. This crackdown on young left-wing activists is an attempt to intimidate all the other young people wanting to fight back. Socialist Students says: An injury to one is an injury to all!
This is why Socialist Students is organising on school, college and university campuses to fight back not only against the repression but also against all attacks on our rights and living stands. Young people face a rise in tuition fees, high rents, an out-of-control climate crisis, low pay and disability benefit attacks. We are organising young people and students to fight for a socialist alternative to this rotten capitalist system.
