I was intrigued by ‘what is socialism’, now I’ve joined

Fethie, Manchester and Salford Socialist Party

Joining the Socialist Party has been an enlightening experience in such a short time. I’ve had amazing conversations about things I’ve always been interested in. Its been a lesson and a comfort.

Being surrounded by other people who are engaged to learn more about the world, willing to stay curious, is the reason why I’m staying.

I joined the Socialist Party after going up to one of our campaign stalls at Manchester Met uni. I was particularly intrigued by the public meeting on ‘What is socialism?’ What better way to learn what socialism really is than from socialists themselves.

Although I was scared to go alone, I’m glad I did. And even felt comfortable enough to ask a question.

Everyone spoke so well. And it was such a welcoming environment. The process of someone presenting a ‘lead off’ on a topic was so interesting, definitely something I want to do in future meetings.

Local Socialist Party members, Alex and Robbie, were so helpful providing me with all the information needed when I was joining. Their ability to answer all the theoretical questions I had was incredible.

Working class

They emphasised the role of the Socialist Party over left-wing ‘celebrities’. The working class is the majority, we need a socialist revolution.

By joining the Socialist Party, you get hands-on experience in fighting to bring about socialist change, and talking about the ideas of socialism to everyday people. I’ve gained experience, from public speaking to organisation. Every member is important, and you can clearly see that.

The Socialist Party is on the side of the oppressed. Through capitalism, oppression of all kinds continues to thrive, and only through socialism can it be ended.
