What kind of future do Trump, Starmer, and the rest of the capitalist bosses and politicians offer young people?
An education system in financial ruin, that students still have to go into mountains of debt to study in. Low-paid, insecure jobs with bullying bosses. Sky-high rents to share a flat or a room with mould and rats. And a world heading for deeper climate disaster in which war and genocidal slaughter continues unabated.
Those things and more motivated hundreds of students to walkout of their lessons in protest when Donald Trump visited the UK on 17 September (see page 4). Thousands have joined mass demonstrations against Israeli state terror and thousands of young people have signed up to Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana’s ‘Your Party’, stating their intention to get organised and fight for an alternative.
Socialist Students is helping students who walked out against Trump to take the next steps and build students unions in their schools and colleges – to fight collectively for the things students need. On over 50 university campuses, Socialist Students is hosting meetings to discuss what next for ‘Your Party’, and how it can be built into a mass democratic party of workers and young people that fights for socialist change.
