Milford Haven campaign against mosquito sound device

Twenty five local supporters recently joined five campaign negotiators to protest outside Milford Haven library against the use of a high frequency ‘mosquito’ sound device.

The high pitched noise is supposed to stop young people ‘hanging around’ the library, while older people can’t hear it.

I am leading the campaign against it, after a personal experience of a panic attack. I know an autistic child who covers his ears when he is anywhere near the library. One young boy’s epilepsy is triggered by sound. A young girl told us it causes her fits. We are also consulting doctors on the effects of these sonic weapons.

At the meeting that followed our protest, we were shocked to learn that the frequency has been changed to affect everyone in the town, supposedly to avoid age discrimination!

We agreed to meet in two weeks’ time while they “costed” our two suggested alternatives. Two night security guards, or increased CCTV. The protest was filmed by two representatives of device manufacturer Compound Security Systems (CSS). My dad and I have also been threatened with legal action by CSS. Our campaign Facebook posts have also been removed.
