General Election Campaign
Four Weeks To Get All Pledges In
The general election could be just six months away. This will be an
opportunity for the Socialist Party to stand candidates who not only
oppose Labour’s policies but will also put forward a socialist
alternative.

We launched a General Election Appeal at the National Council on 11 and
12 September where £14,283 was pledged towards our target of £50,000.
£25,634 has now been pledged which takes us to the halfway mark. One
member in London has pledged £1,000 and others have pledged between £400
and £500.
Not everyone can give these amounts and smaller amounts from those on
low incomes will be really appreciated.
However, the deadline for all pledges is only four weeks away (the end
of November) and we need all the cash in by the end of January. Therefore,
we are urging all regions to build on the initial success of this campaign
and hit their target in pledges in the next few weeks.
Appeal letters are available from the finance department and should be
sent to every member and supporter.
The general election will be an opportunity to expose this government
of war and privatisation. We will not only be campaigning for votes for
our candidates but explaining our ideas and signing up new members.
However, each candidate we stand will cost £500, plus the cost of
printing leaflets and other material.
