Isle of Grain - Low-paying contractor exposed
The Unite union has been handed a job contract by a Polish worker at the Isle of Grain construction site, showing an hourly wage rate 30% less than the nationally agreed rate.
E.on has appointed Alstom as the main contractor and the sub-contractor Remak is refusing to accept applications from UK-based workers. Over 600 have been turned down.
This vindicates everything that the construction workers at Lindsey, and the other sites which came out in sympathy, are fighting for.
The union is organising a demonstration outside Chatham job centre on 19 March and a demonstration at the power station on 24 March.
