In a deafening protest, hundreds of Jarvis workers demanded justice outside the headquarters of Network Rail on 28 April. In total 1,200 Jarvis workers have been thrown out on the coals.
As one worker explained: “I’ve worked on the railways for nearly 40 years. We’ve been got rid of at a moment’s notice yet the work we did still needs doing. The final betrayal is that we have been told that, even if some of us are taken on by other companies, TUPE will not apply. This means that our pay and conditions would not be transferred. This is all about protecting profits at the expense of jobs and railway safety.” Justice4Jarvis will next be demonstrating outside the offices of Jarvis administrator Deloittes in Leeds on Friday, 7 May from noon.
