Manchester Unity Stewards and activists group
A SUCCESFUL launch of Manchester Unity Stewards and activists group (MUST) took place on 12 March. Workers from Salford and Manchester local government branches met to discuss the way forward.
Introducing the discussion, Jim Cessford outlined the single status pay cuts, continued attacks on pensions and privatisation of services. To combat this, members need a leadership willing to fight and carry out their decisions.
The discussion focussed on breaking the Labour/union link, on pensions, on fighting pay cuts, and on preparing against big job losses in the near future.
MUST agreed to organise a public meeting during the UNISON national executive elections and to produce a newsletter by the end of March.
