Protesters cleared

TWO ANTI-WAR protestors, who broke into RAF Fairford just before the bombing of Iraq in March 2003, have been cleared of all charges. The jury took four hours to find the two not guilty of conspiracy to cause criminal damage.

Toby Olditch and Philip Pritchard were caught breaking into the base to damage US bombers. They explained in court that they carried out the protest because they believed the planes were being prepared to commit war crimes in Iraq. The jury at Bristol Crown Court obviously agreed with them - maybe another reason why trial by jury is under attack.

Stop the War Demonstration, Sunday 24 June, Manchester. To join the International Socialist Resistance contingent and for details of transport to Manchester, ring Ben on 020 8988 8791.
