Home | The Socialist 12 March 2008 | Join the Socialist Party Land RegistryIn a recent indicative ballot, PCS members in Land Registry voted overwhelmingly to reject a 2% cost of living pay offer - a pay cut. Land Registry management's arrogant response has been that there is no point in any further negotiation as they are tied by the 2% public-sector pay cap. This is despite talks resuming in other government departments. At this stage, management imposed the offer without agreement! The PCS response has been to ballot members for strike action and action short of strike. And in the largest turnout for a postal ballot in Land Registry history, members have endorsed both types of action. The Land Registry GEC must now plan for this action, harnessing the obvious anger of members and deliver effective action which can lead to tangible improvements to members' pay.
