Northampton – cost-of-living despair

Like so many places, Northampton is feeling the full force of the cost-of-living crisis. Anger and despair is palpable. But so is appetite for change.

We’re a regular fixture in the town centre. Most locals agree with us that the mainstream political establishment has nothing to offer the working class.

People seem particularly impressed by the Socialist Party’s commitment to stand workers’ candidates on a workers’ wage.

This will be the first time that a TUSC candidate has stood at a parliamentary election in Northampton. Socialist Party member Katie Simpson is standing in Northampton South.

Sheffield – persuasive ideas

Sheffield Socialist Party launched headfirst into our general election campaigning. We have been experimenting with multiple stalls across the city, and trialling different locations, times, and petitions.

We held four campaign stalls on 25 May. In Walkley, we met several people who had voted for the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) previously, had plenty of good discussions, catching up with people who’d met us on stalls before.

Our ideas are persuasive. One person changed their position on the NHS in the time it took them to do their shopping! Returning back to the stall, asking to sign up to hear more, and donating to the fighting fund.
