Following a one-week strike at the beginning of August, Unite members working at Veolia bin depot at Lumley Street in Sheffield began an indefinite strike for union recognition on 20 August.
Now representing around half the workforce, Unite is demanding recognition alongside the GMB union. Unfortunately GMB members are still working, meaning the strike action will need to be sustained to have a cumulative effect.
Unite members are up for the fight, putting pressure on the GMB and the council to support recognition and not allow a very bullying, victimising Veolia management to divide and rule.
