But, as the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has warned, it is impacting the government’s ability to safely throw fancy parties for visiting dignitaries.
Buckinghamshire fire and rescue service is being told by Keir Starmer to deploy vehicles and crew to Chequers country house while Donald Trump visits. Stations and fire appliances are under threat from cuts in Buckinghamshire already, and the FBU has warned that taking staff away from vital duties elsewhere will make the public less safe.
Steve Wright, FBU general secretary says: “Keir Starmer must cancel this state visit.” We agree, but we are also preparing for Trump to be met with young people letting him know he’s not welcome!
