A total of 177 Bangladeshi migrant workers at the Mediceram factory in Negeri Sembilan were summarily dismissed and forcibly sent home after they launched a strike demanding unpaid wages, promised reimbursement of recruitment fees, and the return of their personal documents which had also been confiscated.

The employer’s retaliation has involved threats, forced deportation, and continued intimidation. This case exposes the harsh reality of the exploitation of migrant workers in Malaysia – from debt bondage, passport confiscation, to violations of the most basic human rights.

We say:

  • We call on progressive organisations and individuals to express solidarity collectively
  • Write and send a statement from your organisation to us (via WhatsApp or email to sosialisalternatif@gmail.com). Your statement will be shared, and used as pressure on the company and the governments of Malaysia and Bangladesh
  • Sign and share this petition: https://c.org/Q6gdypTBrJ
  • Join the WhatsApp group Solidarity for Migrant Workers (Malaysia) for updates and to participate in coordinated workers’ solidarity actions

Without international solidarity, the working class will continue to be systematically oppressed in silence, without just protection.

Forward with the workers’ struggle – forward to democratic socialism!
