This year’s Socialist Party Congress (28 February – 2 March) is taking place in an increasingly volatile and polarised period. The crises of capitalism and its failure to provide a decent future for the majority is being exposed more and more.

Part of our Congress is a financial appeal to all members and supporters to help fund our work – so we can promote the socialist ideas needed to end this rotten system. You can donate online at www.socialistparty.org.uk/donate

The Epstein files have exposed the brutal exploitation and corruption that is part and parcel of the capitalist system. Keir Starmer, while surviving the latest calls for his resignation, is now weaker and even more unpopular. He is now the most unpopular Prime Minister for 50 years, essentially because, like the Tories before him, he is overseeing a system run in the interests of the bosses against the working class and young people.

In this year’s May elections, we are fighting for the biggest possible anti-cuts stand, against all the divisive austerity establishment parties. What we need is clear: we need more resources and funding for vital services, jobs that pay us well, secure homes, and a party to fight for it.

The Socialist Party is the most determined fighter for the working class to have its own party, and we are confident that we have the ideas and programme to bring about the much-needed system change in the interest of the working class and young people. Help us to spread our ideas, and build our party. Donate today!

This issue of the Socialist covers the fortnight from 19 February to 4 March. During this time, the Socialist Party is holding its national congress which will discuss and debate the political situation in Britain and the world, and the tasks for building support for socialism. To allow the hundreds of delegates and visitors to prepare for this conference, many of whom write for the Socialist alongside work, studies and political campaigning, the next issue of the Socialist will be published on 5 March.
