The Socialist has been reporting on the strike of GMB members working for Veolia in Nottinghamshire. A GMB member spoke to Jon Dale.

“We’ve had a resolution. Members on strike have started back at work. We came away with a £500 cost-of-living payment that is to be paid in January 2024, our slates wiped clean with Veolia, the bullying to be looked into, and hopefully an earlier start to 2024 pay talks. It’s been very hard doing what we’ve done over the last three weeks. Like many of us, I have never been on strike. But I think we’ve all come through this now with a good result. More would have been better, but we could have held out forever and ended up with nothing!

“I would just like to take this opportunity on behalf of myself and all GMB union members, to say a very big thank you to all the Socialist members for all your help and support.”
