Iain campaigning outside one of the nurseries threatened with closure.

Parents were shocked to receive letters as they dropped their children off at council-run Little Owls nurseries across Leeds, letting them know whether they could face imminent closure.

Without any prior consultation, the council are proposing closing three of the 24 nurseries as soon as May. And the future of a further 12 nurseries remain in doubt.

The anger and worry of parents has already been shown in interviews with local media. Over 300 parents have joined a Facebook group that I set up, and a Zoom meeting is taking place on 27 March. Parents at affected nurseries have been leafleting to promote both.

If the Labour-run council thought parents would accept this as a done deal, then they will be made to think again!
