We relaunched TUSC in Northampton with a public meeting. The discussion was broad and lively, from the plight of the people of Palestine, to the task of taking on the Tories at a council level. Nobody attending had any illusions that the Labour Party could be a vehicle for socialist change.

After the meeting, a leading campaigner for Palestine solidarity said: “I’ve found my political home”, and agreed to join the local TUSC steering committee to help us build an alternative. Northampton TUSC is hoping to stand at least one candidate in the general election, and upwards of ten candidates in next year’s local council elections.
