Barnet Unison members push back Labour council strike-breakers

Barnet Unison has launched further strike action by its members working as mental health social workers. The workers had already taken 27 days of action and, after winning a reballot with a 87% ‘yes’ vote on a 70% turnout, they have called a further 45 days of strikes. Outrageously, the Labour-controlled council intended to use agency labour in a strike-breaking move, even though this anti-union measure was defeated by Unison in the High Court last year, rendering it illegal. However, in a victory for the Unison branch and its members, this move was stopped.
