End discrimination

Racism, sexism, LGBTQ+phobia – capitalism is a system that rules by divide and conquer. The bosses to all they can to divide working-class people on things such as race, age, gender, nationality and sexuality – to try to stop us uniting and pointing our fingers at them, the super-rich exploiters. By uniting as workers and getting organised together fighting for socialist change, we can end all discrimination and oppression.

Scrap anti-democratic laws

Without workers, nothing happens – the pandemic lockdowns and strikes proved it. Organised together we have huge potential strength. That’s why worldwide the capitalists are attacking rights we have won previously through reform and protests. In Britain this can be seen with the anti-strike laws brought in by the Tories, a continuation of what Thatcher started in the 1980s. Keir Starmer has said he will scrap the recent Tory anti-union laws. We need to fight to make sure he actually does so immediately, and scraps Thatcher’s too. The Socialist Party calls for the scrapping of anti-trade union and anti-democratic legislation.

End police harassment

In addition, we call for the ending of police harassment. That means fighting for democratic control of policing, so that young people can have a say on police priorities and policies, as part of democratic bodies of elected working-class representatives, including from the trade unions and local communities.

Votes at 16

The capitalist establishment knows the power that is held by young people, and the Tory party is very aware of the fact that very few of us would ever vote for them! They promise nothing to actually improve the lives of young people, just stupid soundbites such as ‘national service’.

In Scotland, 16-year-olds can vote in elections to the Scottish Parliament and local councils. The Socialist Party calls for votes at 16 in England and Wales, and in all elections too. But we need something to vote for! That’s why we campaign for a new mass workers’ party, one which brings together working-class people to fight for our common interests and for a socialist future.
