Jo Fredericks, Kent and East Sussex Socialist Party
An area like Medway is predominantly poverty stricken, as we had the Tories running us into the ground for years. They spend other people’s money on themselves, or to hurt someone, but they’ll never spend it to help.
Since Labour took over Medway last year nothing much has changed. When those that want to change things try to contact a local Labour MP, they will ignore you, as the Tories did.
We have abandoned buildings that could be used for shelters. But all too often, they are turned into unaffordable flats for the privileged and the entitled, whilst there are homeless people’s tents surrounding this “nice area”.
What is the point in creating flats that no one can afford? Instead, we could be building social housing.
The Gala bingo building in Chatham has been standing alone and unwanted for some time. It could be a shelter, instead it has people living in its lobby, just to keep out of this cold.
Joining the Socialist Party, I can help get these points across, and help those without a voice.
Too many people suffer at the hands of a corrupt capitalist system, that was only ever created for the rich. It’s about time they were accountable for the carnage, massacres, and misery they have been responsible for.
I have spoken to many people, to get them to see that it’s not refugees, the LGBTQ+ community, disabled and old people that are your problem. Through the Socialist Party, we can get the message out that it’s the super-rich capitalist bosses that are the problem.
Today, the people of Palestine are suffering. For our government to be on the side of the Israeli state terror, is not surprising.
It’s about time we had a new system. We will no longer see our friends fooled by bigots in the media and the right-wing politicians, because there would just be people helping people all around the world, as it should be.
To me, socialism is essentially helping all those that need it. Socialists are the ones to bring the world forward.
Through socialism everyone can thrive, have equal rights, and a world that works for all.
