Amazing end to 2024: £53,471 raised

Chris Newby, Socialist Party fighting fund organiser

The Socialist Party has smashed it’s final quarter fighting fund target of 2024, raising a fantastic £53,471 – more than double our target. Thank you for the tremendous effort from Socialist Party members and supporters.

Much of this was raised at the excellent appeal at Socialism 2024. £12,000 of this appeal was donated to help fund the work of the Committee for a Workers’ International (CWI) around the world. The remaining £37,197 went into the fighting fund total.

The Socialist Party also received donations on our street and campaign activity. £100 raised on a Gaza demo in Sheffield, £65 raised in Carlisle campaigning to nationalise the energy companies, £34.50 raised in Birmingham campaigning to stop the cutting of winter fuel payments, or £37.50 raised in Swansea campaigning on ‘fund services not war’.

On these campaign stalls, the anger of people towards the Labour government comes through loud and clear. The donations that we receive show the support that people have for the campaigning work that we are doing, and the socialist policies that we put forward.

The fundraising efforts did not stop there. Socialist Party members did all they could to raise as much as possible to make sure that we have the necessary funds to produce our leaflets, posters ,and placards for the stormy events of 2025.

In Hackney, east London, £152.50 was raised at a Christmas meal, £50 was raised at a Christmas party in Teesside, and £270 was raised at a social event in Liverpool.

With 2025 promising to be a year of struggle, it is vital that we now do all we can to meet the fighting fund target for the new quarter, and make sure we can get the socialist message out as widely as possible. We have a target of £25,000 to raise in this quarter, ending on the 31 March.
