Socialism 2003 – Six Weeks To Go

Socialism 2003, the Socialist Party’s annual weekend of discussion and debate, has been moved forward from the autumn to the 28-29 June.

We have decided to do this because, in the wake of the US and British imperialism’s brutal war for Iraqi oil, there is an increased interest in socialist ideas, particularly amongst young people. And Socialism 2003 will be the best event anyone interested in socialist ideas could attend.

That’s why Socialist Party members need to make sure that the largest number of people possible have the opportunity to attend.

With only six weeks to go every member should be planning how they can build for Socialism, below are a few ideas and pointers that could help:

Book your own ticket – today!

Make sure you have leaflets to give to friends, colleagues and family. If you haven’t had any via your local branch get in touch and we will send you some.

Draw up a list of people you think may be interested in attending and try to convince them to book straightaway. Most people make plans weeks in advance, so we need to convince them to keep their weekend free now.

It is particularly important to see students and school students, most of whom are now up to their neck in exams, but will be finished by the time Socialism 2003 takes place.

If you are attending a trade union conference make sure you have copies of our special trade union leaflets.

Organise postering in your local area.

If you meet people who are interested in attending but aren’t yet convinced, ask them if they would like to be on our elist so that they can receive regular updates on the agenda and speakers. Then just send us their email address at [email protected]
