On 6 March, Unite the Union members working as crane operators for Wolffkran held another strike with a picket line at a construction site in Wapping, east London. This is part of a national strike involving nearly 100 crane operators working for Wolffkran across the UK.

The crane operators are angry that they have been given no pay increase for the last three years, in spite of rising inflation. So they have had a real pay cut. About 30 to 40 took part in the lively picket, including striking crane drivers, Unite members and other supporters. Socialist Party members supporting the picket were well received with one of the workers there agreeing with us about the need for a new workers’ party saying: “It’s a shame we don’t have a party fighting for us”.
