Ross Saunders, Socialist Party Wales
The dam is breaking and Cameron and co don’t have enough fingers to plug all the leaks.
The demonstration at the Tory Party conference is just one point where the anger against austerity will burst out. Jeremy Corbyn’s election as leader of the Labour Party is a crack in the monopoly that big-business has on politics. Tens of thousands demonstrated for an end to the refugee crisis, showing the idea of international solidarity is alive and well.
But how can this pressure for an alternative be converted into a real change in the situation?
Corbyn’s opposition to cuts, privatisation and war is an extremely positive step forward.
Committed activists
But a single person, whether they’re Jeremy Corbyn, me or you, can’t change society, no matter how high they climb or how hard they shout at the TV. To do it we’ve got to build an organisation that coordinates the efforts of lots of committed activists and arms them with socialist ideas.
That’s what the Socialist Party is for.
Every week, Socialist Party branches discuss the political situation in Britain or the world, past struggles and today’s battles, but we don’t just want to understand the world: we want to change it too.
We fight for what is necessary for all working class people to live a life of dignity, free of poverty and insecurity. The bankers and the billionaires have shown us clearly how they wreck the economy when they’re in control of it, which is why we’re committed to fighting for a democratic socialist system that puts working class people in the driving seat. If you agree with us, join us!
