I sold 23 copies of the Socialist and raised an extra £13.50 fighting fund outside Blackhorse Road tube station, north east London, on 17 March.
One building worker stopped and bought a copy. Then, ten minutes later, his workmate stopped for a paper. When they met up and he realised his workmate already had a copy he said he’d share his with his other workmates.
Recently, I’ve also had a few East European construction workers buy the paper, understandably concerned with the war taking place close to their home countries.
Clearly, site workers are discussing the issues of Ukraine and the cost-of-living crisis with each other and looking for answers.
