Campaign for a New Workers' Party

Support grows for an alternative

The support for the Campaign for a New Workers' Party is growing with the number of signatories to the declaration steadily increasing.

Trade unionists from across England and Wales have been adding their names to the list with local launches planned in the New Year (details will be advertised in the socialist once they are confirmed).

Many of those signing up have expressed their discontent with the role being played by the New Labour government and the constant attacks on workers, young people, pensioners and all other oppressed groups in society.

Also, signatories have said that, as the other mainstream parties do not pose any alternative to big business politics, it is time for a party that will represent the genuine interests of the working class.

The declaration states:

  • We, the undersigned, agree to campaign for the establishment of a new mass workers' party in England and Wales.
  • We will campaign for the calling of a representative conference as a step towards the founding of a new party.
  • We will also support all other genuine initiatives towards independent working-class representation, including the conference called by the RMT.

If you support the campaign but have not yet signed up to the declaration, contact info@cnwp.org.uk to get a copy of the full version or request any further information.

Once signed up, don't stop there - get involved! Contact the email address above for advice and publicity material to build support in your local town or trade union or to invite a speaker from the campaign to attend a local meeting.

Supporters of the campaign in Manchester recently gained six new signatories by holding a stall outside the Benefits Agency in the city centre.
