Fujitsu workers strike

FUJITSU SERVICES workers in Manchester began a two-day strike on 11 January, following their successful one-day strike in November.

Addressing the strike rally, Amicus union convenor Ian Allinson explained how the dispute developed from pay and conditions to defending basic legal rights. Fujitsu are: "A company of broken promises," he said, "they break their agreements with the union and their promises to staff".

Phil Tepper, union rep at the Central Park site, explained to us: "We're going to send a clear message to the company that for as long as they carry on like this, we'll continue unionising the other sites around the country. We're leafleting Fujitsu sites in Bristol, Solihull, and elsewhere. After we leafleted the other sites during the one-day strike last year, several workers joined the union. We'll also be targeting Fujitsu's customers, such as Marks and Spencer."

Send messages to support@ourunion.org.uk and donations to John Wood, 301 Bolton Road, Bury, BL8 2NZ. Cheques payable to "Manchester IT Workers Group". More information and dispute collection sheet available online at www.ourunion.org.uk, or contact Ian Allinson, Fujitsu Services, Central Park, Northampton Road, Manchester, M40 5BP.
