Southampton council strike
SOUTHAMPTON CITY council workers will be on strike for 24 hours on 20 March.
This is the next stage in the battle against the council's plans to privatise over 1,000 jobs and make £6 million cuts to jobs and services.
In addition to the strike, there will be a mass lobby of the council meeting on 21 March - 1.30pm at the Civic Centre, Southampton.
The UNISON ballot result was: For strike action - 478 Yes, 183 No
For action short of a strike - 543 Yes, 111 No
