Lively meeting in CardiffON 28 June, the Wales CNWP's public meeting in Cardiff heard Armajit Singh, CWU postal secretary in Cardiff, explain why CWU members were going on strike the next day. Despite being a Labour Party member Armajit recognised the importance of the platform to address trade unionists that night. Andrew Price CNWP secretary WalesKatrine Williams, the chair of the PCS union in Wales, and Mark Evans, Assistant Secretary of Carmarthenshire UNISON highlighted the enormous damage done to public services and to public sector workers' jobs and pay by New Labour's neo-liberal policies. The main speaker, Dave Nellist, outlined the growing social inequality under New Labour and put the case for a new workers' party very effectively. Forty people - trade union and community activists and young people from the anti-capitalist and anti-war movements, turned up which made for a lively discussion. In building for the event CNWP members contacted some trade union activists and youth who previously were unaware of the Campaign. Some of them turned up for this event which bodes well for the CNWP's future work in Wales.
