London - Fight the closures
IN LONDON 169 post offices are down for closure - an average of five per borough. Socialist Party members all over London have been out on the streets petitioning against the closures and met with an angry response from people of all ages.
Words need to be turned into action, and soon. There is big scope for local campaigns in all the areas, and Socialist Party members will be doing our best to help get some off the ground.
But really a national, or at least a London-wide, lead is needed urgently, as the closures could happen very quickly. As local campaigns gather pace they could initiate a London-wide protest. The Shop Stewards Network has a London meeting at the start of April and this could also be a focus for campaigning.
