Low-paid Newham and Tower Hamlets council workers in Unite the Union have secured an extra £750 on top of the national pay offer of a flat rate £1,925.
Over 200 refuse workers and street cleaners in Tower Hamlets took nearly two weeks of strike action to win this extra money. Around 50 agency workers will also be brought in-house by the end of December. 105 refuse workers in Newham were due to walk out between 25 September and 22 October.
