You should come to Socialism 2026!
Alanah Carey-Peacher, Leicester Socialist Party
I joined the Socialist Party at the end of summer 2025, after encountering my local branch campaigning in the street.
I had a very limited idea of what socialism truly was. But I knew that I had a passion to change society – with the UK experiencing the worst cost-of-living crisis in a generation, and anti-migrant protests erupting that past year. I just had nowhere to place my passion yet.
I headed down to Socialism 2025 with the rest of our Leicester contingent. It really began my education.
I was invigorated by being surrounded by hundreds of people with very similar ideas to myself, and hearing from our members nationally, internationally, and within the trade unions about the struggle and the wins of the past year.
The sessions are a perfect blend of historical working-class struggle, theory, and current events. The event gives an understanding of how we could build a new workers’ party from the bottom, if the working class comes together – and the crucial role of a party, like the Socialist Party.
The pieces of the puzzle came together for me. My beliefs were socialist beliefs.
