Statement on Britain 2005 part two
The trade union leaders, as well as in the main acting as a brake on possible action, still resist any formal rupture with New Labour. Despite the fact that - as our party was the first to spell out - New Labour is now an entirely capitalist party, which acts solely in the interests of big business and finance capital, the union leaders still propagate the idea that it is better to buy 'influence' by paying large sums of union members' money to New Labour than to turn to the task of creating a new workers' party.
