One Year After his Death
Today marks the one year anniversary of the death of Peter Taaffe. Peter was a leading member of the International Secretariat of the Committee for a Workers’ International (CWI), Political Secretary of the Socialist Party in England & Wales, and for many years its General Secretary.
Peter played an absolutely central role in the development of the Socialist Party and CWI. From the preparatory years assembling the initial forces, to the CWI’s founding in 1974, and through to its re-founding in 2019 after a political struggle to defend the principles of revolutionary Trotskyism, Peter’s contribution was huge and central.
On this first anniversary we salute Peter, and send our solidarity to all the comrades that knew him, his friends and his family, especially Linda, Peter’s wife, and Nancy and Katie, his daughters.
Rest in Power, Peter.
Peter’s obituary can be read here and a report of his funeral here.
New collections and republications of Peter’s writings are now available from Left Books.
