Workers won’t pay for the crisis
By fighting back collectively, we can win
For the trade union movement there is a lot to discuss.
What action is needed to defend workers’ livelihoods from the oncoming inflationary hit? How can we force the Labour Party to deliver on all its promises to improve workers’ rights and how can we push them further – to remove the undemocratic 50% strike ballot turnout threshold? And how can working-class interests be represented as Keir Starmer’s Labour makes clear every day it stands for the big bosses not the working class?
The National Shop Stewards Network (NSSN) conference on Saturday 27 June, coming after the seismic May elections, is the perfect place to discuss a coordinated response to these questions, and more.
Workers are already fighting back, and the numbers of strikes are on the increase again. From the Birmingham bin workers who have received an improved offer after striking for over a year, to resident doctors, tube drivers, phlebotomists and many many more.
The 20th anniversary NSSN conference will be a platform for hundreds of union reps and members to speak about their strikes, disputes and struggles, and organise together for the strategy we need to win.
